Priced at $149.99 on a three-year contract

Canadian wireless carrier Telus has just made available a new mobile phone from Research In Motion for its users, namely the BlackBerry Curve 8530. The new handset arrives at Telus soon after it was released via Bell and it landed in the US on Sprint and Verizon, and brings along some of the already familiar BlackBerry features, including that QWERTY keyboard coupled with an optical trackpad.

According to Telus, the new “BlackBerry Curve 8530 lets you be as social as you like, wherever you like. Enjoy the convenience of a QWERTY keyboard and apps for Facebook, MySpace and more. The latest version of the very popular BlackBerry Curve features a faster processor and BlackBerry 5.0 software, making it easier to use than ever.”

The features list of the new device includes a slim profile, a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, Facebook and Flickr connectivity, the BlackBerry Messenger IM application, HTML browser for great Internet navigation over 3G or Wi-Fi networks, external music keys, music player, text messaging, email access, speakerphone and more.

The handset also comes with CDMA EVDOr0 800/1900 MHz connectivity on board, as well as with Wi-Fi capabilities, a MicroSD memory card slot that supports up to 16GB of additional storage space, Bluetooth capabilities, Voice dial, and support for a great deal of services, including TELUS mobile music, access to the BlackBerry App World, and more.

The BlackBerry Curve 8530 is available from Telus in two color versions, namely Red and Silver. The price tag for the device has been set at $149.99 upon the signing of a three-year contract agreement, but it can be purchased with a two year- or a one-year contract too, priced at $249.99 or $299.99, respectively. The phone is also available free of contract, in case one does not want to commit to a service agreement, sporting a price tag of $349.99. It can be seen on the carrier's website here.
