On Tuesday, Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion announced the launch of a new smartphone on the market in Hong Kong, namely the BlackBerry Curve 3G (model 9300). The new mobile phone is expected to hit the shelves at the end of September via RIM authorized carrier partners and retail channels in Hong Kong and should be feature a price tag of HKD 2,988 when available.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G comes to the market in Hong Kong with a nice range of smartphone features, including support for high-speed 3G (HSDPA) networks.

According to the mobile phone maker, the new device is capable of offering a powerful, approachable and affordable choice for users looking for a new device, while offering them great communications features, as well as other capabilities.

“The BlackBerry Curve 3G is an easy-to-use and feature-rich smartphone that will broadly appeal to people on the go,” said Norm Lo, Vice President of Asia Pacific, Research In Motion.

“This exciting new smartphone is also complemented by the recent release of a new version of BlackBerry App World, offering an extensive range of business and lifestyle applications that further enhance the mobile experience for customers in Hong Kong.”

The smartphone comes to the market with a full-QWERTY keyboard for fast typing, an optical trackpad, and built-in GPS and Wi-Fi capabilities.

Moreover, the device enables users stay in touch with their friends and family via phone or web, though instant messages with BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), email or social networking sites.

“The BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone also comes with dedicated media keys, so music lovers can easily access their music while on the go. In addition, the new smartphone features a camera that can record video and a microSD/SDHC slot that supports up to 32 GB memory cards for media storage,” RIM notes.

The new BlackBerry Curve 3G comes to shelves with the BlackBerry 5 OS on board, but its maker says that it is BlackBerry 6 ready.

The new OS version was announced officially several weeks ago as packing a nice range of new features over the previous platform flavor, and should be delivered to the Curve 3G units out there in the coming months.
