You might have heard that BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen, was awarded the second place in CNN’s CEO of the Year (2014) right after Apple’s Tim Cook.

This took a lot of people by surprise, since BlackBerry is no longer considered an important player in the industry and more of an icon of the past.

BlackBerry bouncing back under Chen?

But John Chen is believed to have done a lot of good for the company. Under his watch, the device maker rolled out a business-centric smartphone called the BlackBerry Passport, which boasts an atypical square-ish design perfect for working with spreadsheets and handling emails.

He also brought back the iconic BlackBerry vibe from the glorious past which materialized in the BlackBerry Classic model and its trackpad and old-school function keys.

Anyway, in an recent interview with Yahoo, BlackBerry CEO John Chen talked some more about the perks of being an affiliate to the BlackBerry network.

The iCloud scandal would not have been possible on the BlackBerry network

For starters, he was heard saying that the infamous iCloud hack which led to the leakage of embarrassing photographs showing celebrities in their Adam and Eve costumes would never have happened on the BlackBerry network.

That’s a bit of a cocky thing to say, don’t you think? Well, not so much, when you also take into consideration that President Obama and other important world leaders are also using BlackBerry handsets.

Chen admitts that he loves phones but he also likes to make money a lot. To that end, the executive says he is confident that the BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry Classic will bring back old and new customers into the BlackBerry bosom.

BlackBerry’s boss explains that the company’s handsets are productive, secure and private and also bring a big battery life to the party.

So as you can see, BlackBerry is not going anywhere, anytime soon.
