Research In Motion and Vodafone Spain have recently announced the availability of the new BlackBerry Bold 9000 smartphone for Spanish mobile users. The handset should be on sale as of now, for prices starting at 189 Euros (276 USD), with a contract agreement for 18 months and a "25 Mas" monthly plan.

The first and only (until now) BlackBerry smartphone to come with quad-band GSM and tri-band HSDPA connectivity, the Bold is targeted at business users but it can also be an ideal device for those in need of a good multimedia phone.

Connectivity aside, the other features packed by RIM into its new device include a wide 480 x 320 pixel TFT non-touchscreen display with 65K colors, a full QWERTY keyboard, RIM's famous and easy to use trackball navigation, advanced Web and email capabilities, Wi-Fi, internal GPS to work with Vodafone Navigator, BlackBerry Maps, document reader and editor, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Media player, a 2 Megapixel camera and 1GB of built-in memory (microSD/microSDHC cards are also supported).

Measuring 114 x 66 x 14 millimeters and weighing about 133 grams, RIM's latest high-end device comes with a powerful 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery said to last up to 5 hours in talk-time mode or up to 300+ hours in stand-by mode.

BlackBerry Bold is also available in several other European countries besides Spain, including the UK, France, Germany, Austria and Turkey. The smartphone can also be bought in some Asian countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia), as well as in Canada, Chile and Ecuador. As for the US, RIM will release the Bold via AT&T, but no release date has been given yet.

If a Bold is not your thing, you might be interested in another brand new RIM-manufactured smartphone, namely the Pearl Flip 8220. As its name shows, this smartphone is a Pearl that comes in a clamshell form factor and it's a more than welcomed addition to the BlackBerry line-up of handsets.
