AT&T, the blue-and-white US top mobile operator, has launched a new and very orange website for the yet to come BlackBerry Bold 9000 smartphone that should be available for purchase sometime this summer. Rumors say that the new handset will be in stores starting July, but we can't be sure of that until something official comes from AT&T on the matter.

Whether or not it is released in July, BlackBerry Bold is a smartphone that will most probably attract lots of customers. First unveiled by RIM about a month ago, at the beginning of May, the Bold 9000 is the best-looking and best-featured handset to come from the Canadian manufacturer until now.

In a case that has about the same dimensions as the iPhone 3G (114 x 66 x 14 mm for the Berry and 115.5 x 62 x 12 mm for Apple's handset), the new Bold has several specs that are for the first time included in a BlackBerry smartphone. For example, the 9000 features tri-band HSDPA connectivity (850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz), allowing users to enjoy a fast Web browsing and fast data transfer speeds.

The other nice features of the new and elegant BlackBerry include a 480 x 320 pixel TFT display, Wi-Fi, GPS, a full QWERTY keyboard, full HTML browser, email, Media player, a 3.5 mm audio jack, 1GB of internal memory, a 2 Megapixel camera (with flash and video) and so on.

AT&T has not announced yet the price of BlackBerry Bold (neither the retail one nor the one with a contract agreement). I assume, though, that RIM's smartphone will have a price close the one of iPhone 3G (hence about $200 with a 2-year contract), despite the fact that the devices are not targeted for the same category of users.

Anyway, what's important is that AT&T's subscribers will have in BlackBerry Bold a smartphone definitely worth their consideration if they're in need of a high-end handset with a full QWERTY keypad. You can check Bold's promo website at this address.
