BlackBerry Bold 9000, RIM's new flagship smarpthone, will be first available in Canada, via Rogers Wireless, the largest mobile operator in the country. Bold's release via Rogers was already unveiled back in May, but the carrier didn't say, at that time, when exactly the new smarptohne would hit the Canadian market.

Well, Rogers is still quiet on the release date of the Bold but, according to CrackBerry, Research in Motion's latest high-end handset will be released by Rogers no later than the 25th of July. This will allow Canada to get the BlackBerry Bold about one month before the US, where AT&T apparently plans to release the device in the second half of August.

There are still no details about the price and data plans of BlackBerry Bold for Canada but hopefully, Rogers will make a better offer than the one that comes starting July 11 with Apple's new iPhone 3G. Of course, BlackBerry Bold and the iPhone 3G are quite different handsets, but they're both high-end devices and will probably get lots of users confused about which one they should choose.

Coming in a nicely designed case that weighs 133 grams and measures 114 x 66 x 14 millimeters, BlackBerry Bold 9000 is almost unanimously recognized as RIM's best smartphone ever (theoretically, because only few users had the chance to test it until now). The handset's features include: a wide TFT display with a 480 x 320 pixel resolution, RIM's well-known trackball navigation, a full QWERTY keypad, quad-band GSM plus tri-band HSDPA connectivity, Wi-Fi, built-in GPS, BlackBerry Maps, full HTML browser, advanced email capabilities, 1GB of expandable memory, Music and Video players, a 3.5mm audio jack and so on.

The Bold relies on a 624 MHz processor as well as on a powerful 1500 mAh battery that should be able to provide up to 5 hours of talk-time and up to 310 hours of stand-by time.

All there is left to do now for Canadian users interested in a BlackBerry Bold is hope the release date is indeed July 25 and Rogers will be offering the smartphone for a decent price.

exciting to see the new BOLD but unfortunately we have to use the Rogers network, which is dependable, but dealing with Rogers is like dealing with the MAFIA!!!
