Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has just announced that it planned on adding a new BlackBerry smartphone to its offering before the end of the ongoing month, none other than the recently unveiled BlackBerry Bold 9930.

Starting with August 25th, Verizon Wireless customers in the United States will be able to purchase the new device from any Verizon Wireless Communications Store, as well as online from the carrier's website.

The handset will sport a price tag of $249.99 upon the signing of a new two-year customer agreement, the wireless carrier announced.

“Customers that purchase a BlackBerry Bold 9930 smartphone will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan beginning at $39.99 for monthly access and a smartphone data package starting at $30 monthly access for 2 GB of data,” Verizon announced.

[admark=1] Hitting the shelves as the slimmest BlackBerry smartphone, the new BlackBerry Bold 9930 comes with a touchscreen display and with a QWERTY keyboard in the popular Bold form factor.

Only 10.5 mm thin, the new device runs under the new BlackBerry 7 operating system and can provide users with a wide range of productivity, communication and entertainment features, Verizon announced.

The specifications list of the new device includes a 2.8-inch touchscreen display (640 x 480), 1.2 GHz processor, 5MP camera with flash and 720p HD video recording, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

Moreover, the new handset is global-ready, Verizon explains: “Quad band with support for UMTS, HSPA, GSM, GPRS and EDGE allowing customers to enjoy wireless voice and data service in more than 200 countries, including more than 125 countries with 3G speeds.”

The new BlackBerry 7 OS also provides users with a next generation BlackBerry browser with optimized HTML5 performance, a premium flavor of Documents To Go, the latest BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) flavor, Liquid Graphics technology, Social Feeds app, and more.

The phone also comes with BlackBerry Balance integrated with BlackBerry 7, which should enable users take full advantage of the handset for both their work and personal lives.

“BlackBerry Balance allows secure access to business information while preventing the information from being copied into, sent from, or used by personal applications. An administrator can also remotely wipe business information from the device while leaving personal information intact,” Verizon explains.
