BlackBerry Bold 9930, the latest handset that Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion added to its popular Bold series, is now available for purchase in the United States via Sprint for only $199.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement.

The mobile phone was launched only yesterday, August 21st. Online purchasers can have it cheaper than what Sprint announced for it initially, namely $249.99 on contract.

The offer Sprint has for the new flagship Bold smartphone is even more appealing when considering that other carriers have it priced at least $50 higher (T-Mobile announced that the mobile phone would be priced at $299.99 on its network).

The new device comes with a touchscreen display included into the mix, in addition to the popular QWERTY keyboard any other Bold smartphone features.

Not only is it the first smartphone in the RIM's Bold series to pair a touchscreen display with a physical QWERTY, but it is also the first to sport an application processor faster than 1GHz.

The BlackBerry Bold 9930 comes with a 1.2GHz application processor, a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back (with support for HD video recording), as well as with a 1230 mAh battery inside, for extended usage time.

“The Bold 9930 features a 1.2GHz processor, Wi-Fi capability, built-in compass, Near Field Communication technology and the personal applications you want without sacrificing the corporate security features you rely on,” Sprint notes on its website.

“Remain in the loop even when you’re off the grid. This super-thin International smartphone lets you pack light without skimping on connection or performance.”

The smartphone runs under the new BlackBerry 7 OS, which comes with a wide range of improvements related to Web browsing, BlackBerry Messenger and voice-enabled searching.

“Whether it’s for work or play, the Bold 9930 lets you connect to all of your networks, from any corner of the globe,” the wireless carrier continues.
