More BlackBerry Bold 9900 users can now download and install the new BlackBerry OS 7.1 platform flavor on their devices.

Today, Australia wireless carrier Vodafone announced the immediate availability of this OS upgrade for the owners of this device on its airwaves.

The update brings along all the features and capabilities that other Bold 9900 owners have had the chance to taste.

“From today, March 19th 2012 – a software update to the BlackBerry Bold 9900 handheld has been made available for download,” the wireless carrier notes in a blog post.

Moreover, the company explains that the enhancements packed inside the new OS upgrade include WiFi Hotspot functionality, along with BlackBerry Tag – NFC Sharing, and Wireless Media Server – Share media contents wirelessly.

However, this is not all when it comes to the new OS flavor. There is also a variety of other performance enhancements that will result in a great experience offered by this mobile phone.

These improvements are related to Facebook, Twitter, SMS & MMS Messaging, BlackBerry Music, the mobile phone’s camera, and Browser, and to PIM.

Moreover, the BlackBerry OS 7.1 brings along HD Video Playback to this mobile phone, along with better BlackBerry Maps.

Before kicking off the update process, users are advised to fully charge their devices. Moreover, they should also back up all data on the mobile phone using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, also prior to the upgrade.

The update will be performed via a desktop computer, on which users will have to have the latest version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager installed.

Users will need to connect their BlackBerry Bold 9900 to the PC, and the said application will download and install the latest Handheld Software for it.

Following the upgrade, users will see BlackBerry App Version 7.1.0.267 on their devices, along with baseband 5.1.0.230. The software sports build number Bundle 921 and weighs 220MB. More info on the update can be found on Vodafone’s website.
