BlackBerry Bold 9900, the first smartphone from Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion to arrive on shelves with the new BlackBerry OS 7 on board, was not made available on the market until now, but the first unit was already sold, on eBay.

For £900, a lucky person got the pre-release version of RIM's BlackBerry Bold 9900, a few weeks ahead of the official availability of the device.

The Bold 9900 appears to have been completed, Pocketnow notes, which means that it should not be too long before carriers and retailers around the world start to deliver it to their customers.

In the UK, for example, the handset is expected to land only in September, all dressed up in black, while the white flavor might be released one month later, on October 15th.

Bold 9900 emerged on eBay with all the cables and accessories that were supposed to be included in the package sealed up, even if a factory box was not available.

However, the handset is said to be a “full retail unit.” With a price tag lower than that of other prototype phones that emerged into the wild, the pre-released Bold 9900 seems to be a worthy item for someone's collection.

The new handset comes with a touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard put together in the already popular Bold design.

When compared to the previous Bold devices, it brings a great deal of improvements, starting with the much faster application processor, which runs at 1.2Ghz.

The mobile phone also comes with 8GB of expandable memory, 3G connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth, a camera with HD video recording, and the like.

As stated above, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is set to arrive on shelves both in black and in white flavors, and the first photo with the latter already emerged into the wild.

Hopefully, it won't be too long before the mobile phone hits the shelves around the world, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
