Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion has just announced that they planned on making the new BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone available for purchase in Hong Kong as soon as September 9th, and that it will be released through all authorized carrier partners and retail channels.

The new device comes with a touchscreen display and with the well-known BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard, while running under RIM's new BlackBerry 7 OS platform.

When compared to the previous Bold models, the new smartphone offers increased performance capabilities, as well as a more appealing design, and a wide range of new features as well.

The new Bold device is the thinnest BlackBerry smartphone yet at only 10.5mm, and packs a 1.2GHz application processor that will go along great with the aforementioned BlackBerry 7 operating system.

The new BlackBerry Bold 9900 features Liquid Graphics technology, a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, a highly responsive touch interface, and a great experience for all users to enjoy.

“We are very excited to be bringing the highly-anticipated BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry 7 OS to Hong Kong,” Urpo Karjalainen, senior vice president of Asia Pacific for Research In Motion, said.

“Featuring the industry’s best keyboard together with a brilliant touch display, this powerful new smartphone also offers enhanced performance, faster browsing and exceptional work tools for the ultimate in communications, multimedia and productivity.”

The new device also arrives on shelves with the latest version of BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), as well as with various other social features, including an updated Social Feeds (2.0) app, the new Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones (2.0) app, and more.

Moreover, the new mobile phone comes with built-in support for NFC (Near Field Communications), offering users the possibility to easily pair it with NFC-enabled accessories or share content with compatible devices.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 packs a wide range of pre-loaded applications aimed at offering increased productivity capabilities, such as the Premium version of Documents To Go, or the BlackBerry Balance for keeping the personal and professional lives separated on the same device.
