Today, Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion announced the release of two new handsets running under its BlackBerry 7 OS platform, namely the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and the BlackBerry Curve 9380.

The new handsets arrive on shelves with appealing designs, while also packing great communication capabilities, as well as enhanced multimedia, productivity and social connectivity features.

The new BlackBerry Bold 9790 comes to the market with a compact design, as well as with the power of offering great performance capabilities.

The BlackBerry Curve 9380 comes to the market with a touchscreen display, being the very first Curve handset to offer touch capabilities.

The new device will still deliver appealing social networking features in a small handset size, as well as the benefits of touch capabilities.

“We are very excited to expand the BlackBerry 7 portfolio with the new BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380,” said Carlo Chiarello, senior vice president, Handheld Product Management at Research In Motion.

“BlackBerry smartphones offer a uniquely refined mobile communications experience that people love and we think many customers will be thrilled by the faster performance, beautiful touch displays and compact designs available with these new BlackBerry 7 based models.”

The new Bold smartphone arrives on shelves with a 1 GHz processor inside, as well as with 8GB of memory and a microSD memory card slot for expanding it by up to 32GB.

The handset also includes a QWERTY keyboard, as well as a touchscreen display, the same as the Bold 9900 did before it.

BlackBerry Curve 9380 packs a 3.2-inch screen, along with a 5MP camera with flash and video recording on the back, and fast access to BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), Facebook, Twitter and Social Feeds apps.

Announced today in Indonesia, the two handsets are expected to become available for purchase all around the world in the coming weeks. They will be launched via wireless carriers, and the specific release dates will depend on them.
