Canadian carrier Mobilicity has officially introduced RIM’s latest smartphone, the Blackberry Bold 9780 smartphone to its lineup.

According to Mobilicity, this is the first BlackBerry Bold smartphone launched by the carrier to feature the new BlackBerry 6 operating system out-of-the-box.

However, the Bold 9780 doesn't differentiate from other Blackberry smartphones when it comes to design, as it retains the same familiar lines that set the BlackBerry apart from other brands.

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is powered by a 624 MHz processor and provides users with a wide range of enhancements thanks to the Blackberry 6 OS. The smartphone features a new rich user interface, a fast WebKit-based browser, improved communications and multimedia capabilities, along with a new Universal Search feature.

The device packs a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording capabilities.

Obviously, the smartphone targets business users who will be able to enjoy enhanced messaging capabilities with intuitive features that make it easier to manage social networking and RSS feeds.

Integrated access to BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and various instant messaging applications is provided as well.

The new device includes a built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support for location-based applications and geo-tagging, as well as 256 MB RAM of internal memory, 512 MB Flash memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32 GB of additional storage (2 GB microSD memory card included).

Other key features of the smartphone include: HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, Push Email, BlackBerry maps, Document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF), 3.5 mm audio jack, QWERTY keyboard and touch-sensitive optical trackpad.

The Bold 9780 sports a 2.44-inch TFT display with 65K colors and 480 x 360 pixels resolution.

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 will be available soon for $499.99 at Mobilicity stores across Canada.
