Leading handset vendor Research In Motion announced on Thursday the launch of its stylish and powerful BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone in India, while also stating that the device is set to become available all around the country starting with January 28, 2010. According to the mobile phone maker, users in India will be able to purchase the new smartphone from leading retail stores and outlets serviced by Redington India, as well as via carriers like Airtel, Aircel, BSNL, Idea Cellular, Loop Mobile, MTNL, Reliance, Tata and Vodafone.

As many of you might already know, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 (also known as Bold 2 or the successor of Bold 9000) comes to the market in a compact form factor, while delivering the same QWERTY keyboard that is already popular among users.

The phone sports great performance capabilities, including support for 3G frequencies, so that users can stay connected at all times to friends or family via email, IM, social networking sites or other communication channels. In addition, the handset features a touch-sensitive trackpad that enables users to easily navigate through menus or applications.

“Building on the success of the original BlackBerry Bold, we are now pleased to introduce the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone to customers in India. The new 3G BlackBerry Bold 9700 offers top-of-the-line features and performance in a sleek and elegant design that will appeal to both business professionals and consumers,” said Frenny Bawa, Vice President, India, Research In Motion.

The specs and features list of BlackBerry Bold 9700 also includes a 624 MHz CPU and 256 MB of flash memory, a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, a 2.44-inch display, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) connectivity, Bluetooth, 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, built-in GPS, 1,500 mAhr battery, and a microSD/SDHD memory card slot for up to 32GB of additional storage space. Not to mention the BlackBerry OS 5.0 it runs under, or the support for BlackBerry Internet Service, BlackBerry Enterprise Server, BlackBerry App World and more.

For months I was wondering and thinking if I should go for it or not. Finally I took the plunge and bought it. And it works amazingly great. I am so so so happy
