Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion has finally announced officially the release of BlackBerry Bold 9700, which has been spotted for quite some time now into the wild as the Bold 2. The handset, the second sequel RIM makes official within weeks, following the recent unveiling of BlackBerry Storm 2, is expected to reach the market in November and to be put on sale via a wide range of carriers around the world.

The specification list of the second Bold seems to be the same as the one that most of you might be already familiar with, including the BlackBerry OS 5.0, the platform that Storm 2 also comes with, a 624MHz processor, 256MB of flash memory, a 2.44-inch HVGA+ display, optical trackpad, a QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and LED flash capabilities, and a built in GPS receiver.

In addition, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 also sports quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and quad-band UMTS/HSDPA (800/850/1900/2100 MHz) or tri-band UMTS/HSDPA (900/1700/2100 MHz) connectivity options, as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g with UMA support capabilities, and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP/AVCRP connectivity. The device measures 109 x 60 x 14.1 mm, weighs 122g and includes a 1500 mAh battery capable of delivering up to 6 hours of talk time or 17 days of standby (3G).

Research In Motion hasn't unveiled anything official on the pricing of the device, nor on its exact availability, but stated that it would become available for purchase around the world starting with next month. Considering the smartphone's connectivity options, there are great chances that it will indeed come to about all GSM carriers on the globe, yet those that are already known to include it in their offerings are AT&T, T-Mobile, Bell, Rogers and TELUS in North America, and Vodafone in the UK.
