BlackBerry OS 7, the latest iteration of Research In Motion's mobile operating system, was rumored a while ago to arrive on the market on a wide range of new handsets from the Canadian handset vendor, and it seems that two such phones are nearing availability.

We're referring here to the BlackBerry 9810 Torch 2 or 9860 Touch smartphones, both of which can be seen in the photo to the left.

Previously, the two smartphones were expected to become official along with the BlackBerry Bold 9900, at the Blackberry World conference, but RIM launched only the Bold Touch smartphone at that time.

When made available, the two are expected to be included in the same BlackBerry series, as RIM is working on eliminating confusion regarding its branding, some of the latest rumors suggested.

Apparently, these handsets are expected to become available for purchase in the United States via all major wireless carriers in the country, unlike the predecessors, which were available only via AT&T and Verizon.

When made available for purchase, the BlackBerry 9810 Torch 2 should sport a 1.2GHz application processor, as well as the same portrait sliding design as the original Torch.

The QWERTY-enabled smartphone should arrive on shelves at Sprint something in late August, a leaked roadmap from the wireless carrier unveiled recently.

As for the BlackBerry 9860 Touch/Volt, it should hit the market in both GSM and CDMA flavors, featuring the codename of Monaco/Monza.

The handset would sport a similar application processor as the Torch 2 (also the same processor as the Bold 9900), while packing a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen display.

The same as the second BlackBerry slider, the 9860 Touch should become available on Sprint's airwaves sometime in August.

For the time being, nothing is officially announced on the availability of these devices, though both of them might be formally introduced in the very near future. (via)
