The BlackBerry 9800 Slider is one device that Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is expected to launch in the very near future. The handset made it quite a few times to the headlines until now, even if its maker seems to take its time before announcing its officially. A new video has just emerged with the BlackBerry 9800 Slider as its main character, one that can be seen at the bottom of this article, and which also offers a quick look at the upcoming BlackBerry 6 OS.

In case there are some of you who might have not encountered the BlackBerry 9800 Slider until now, we should note that this is expected to become the first BlackBerry smartphone that would land on selves in a sliding form factor. Moreover, it seems that it would put together the popular BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard, though in a sliding version, with a touchscreen display, offering enthusiast more than they might have hoped for.

Not to mention that the handset would run under the new BlackBerry 6 platform, which said to have been optimized for touchscreen displays, and which comes with a highly interactive interface. Not to mention that users would enjoy a series of enhanced multimedia capabilities with it, on which we already reported, as well as a fast WebKit based browser, said to be capable of competing against some of the most popular similar solutions on the market today.

However, specific details on the full capabilities of the forthcoming BlackBerry 6 are still missing at the moment, and the same applies to the features and specs of the BlackBerry 9800 Slider. Hopefully, RIM won't make us wait too long, and the new device, as well as a few others recently rumored to be on their way to the market from RIM, would make an appearance on shelves, offering enthusiasts a viable alternative to the increasing base of Android-based devices.
