It looks like time has come for the BlackBerry 8820 smartphone to hit the shops and meet its owners. Research in Motion, the producing company, has just announced it, the first step towards a future release.

The BlackBerry 8820 handset packs several evolved features which will prove to be just the thing for many people who like to take their business outside the office and be at all times informed. The phone relies mostly on the services that it is capable of providing and less on packing all the features that regular handsets do.

The fact that it has built-in GPS means that the smartphone will manage to provide directions for its user to get around just about anywhere. Moreover, it can operate with BlackBerry Internet Service and support up to 10 personal and corporate email accounts. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server also makes it possible for the user to handle security and IT administration features.

One disadvantage that BlackBerry 8820 brings is that it has no camera. Such a feature, even one capable of low performances would have been useful in many situations for practical reasons, aside from entertainment. Still, being a business-oriented device, it has high chances of losing the interest of some people because of the lacking camera.

The wireless platform for the BlackBerry 8820 smartphone offers customers the possibility to use a considerable number of applications. They can use these in the field of business intelligence, chain management for a wide range of sectors, including law enforcement, financial services, insurance and professional services. One great news is that the phone comes equipped with a microSDHC memory card slot capable of supporting up to 32GB.

BlackBerry 8820 will be available at a worldwide level in the near future. RIM has announced it to come at AT&T sometime later this summer. The price for this smartphone has not been revealed yet.
