It will be delivered via a software update in Q4 2011

Last month, Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion started to push out on the market its latest BlackBerry devices, all of which were powered by the company's new BlackBerry 7 OS.

The operating system was packed with a wide range of enhancements when compared to the previous versions, but it seems that there were still some capabilities that did not come along with the initial package.

Among them, we can count the inclusion of support for WiFi Hotspot, or the ability to create a personal access point to connect WiFi-enabled devices to a wireless carrier's network.

A wide range of other smartphones already include the feature, such as those running under Google's Android operating system, and RIM's new BlackBerry 7 OS devices were expected to include it as well, from day one.

However, the handset vendor was not able to include the capability inside the new OS flavor, but will push it out to users in the coming months.

This is true at least for the BlackBerry Torch 9850 smartphone for Sprint, which landed on shelves with the 'Hot Spot Capable' tag printed on the box.

The feature is not there, but it should become available with the next major software update that RIM plans for the device, which should be released during the fourth quarter of the ongoing year.

Sprint's employees were informed on the matter so that they could pass the information to customers interested in purchasing the mobile phone, a leaked document that emerged over at CrackBerry shows.

While Sprint's Torch is sure to receive the new feature, it remains to be seen whether it will become available for other BlackBerry 7 OS handsets as well, since nothing has been confirmed on the matter for the time being.

Given the fact that RIM is hard at work with bringing its devices to the same level as today's high-end smartphones out there, we should not be surprised if the company made the capability available the new Bold 9900 or the Torch 9810 as well.
