BlackBerry Bold 9900 owners living in Philippines rejoice as RIM has just announced the immediate availability of the 7.1 OS update.

This is the first BlackBerry smartphone launched in Philippines that gets the long-awaited update. Those who wish to upgrade their Bold 9900 devices can do so via BlackBerry Desktop software.

BlackBerry 7.1 OS brings users mobile hotspot capability, which allows them to provide access to Internet for up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices, such as laptops, tablets and smartphones.

In addition, the update improves the Universal Search feature, which has been enhanced with auto-suggest ability that can filter results much better.

BlackBerry Tag and Wi-Fi calling (where available) have been added as well, along with the latest version of various apps that come pre-loaded on the smartphone. Check it out here.
