Owners of BlackBerry PlayBooks looking forward for the arrival of the BlackBerry 10 platform on their devices will certainly be disappointed when learning that BlackBerry has no plans on providing them with an upgrade.

Today, the company confirmed this during the earnings call that followed the unveiling of its financial results for the first quarter for the fiscal year 2014, claiming that "performance and user experience" concerns determined it to take the decision.

No further details on the company’s plans for the PlayBook have been provided, but, as Engadget notes, it’s become clearer and clearer that the model is nearing its end of life.

BlackBerry announced sales of only 100,000 PlayBook devices in the three months ending June 1, paired with sales of 6.8 million BlackBerry devices. More details on the fate of the tablet PC might be provided soon, so stay tuned.
