RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry 10 L-Series smartphones will be comparable with handsets currently available on shelves, a new photo unveils.

One of the upcoming devices powered by RIM’s new platform release was photographed next to a Nokia Lumia 820 smartphone running under Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system.

The two handsets show similar sizes, which suggests that they might actually compete one another when RIM finally decides to release its first new smartphones.

According to RIMarkable, BlackBerry 10 and Windows Phone will certainly prove archrivals on the smartphone OS market, as both will try to prove worthy of a third position in the segment.

Chances are that the two would also sport similar hardware when launched, although nothing has been officially confirmed so far on RIM’s intentions on the matter. Stay tuned for more on this.
