A woman in Pennsylvania got the scare of her life after encountering a black widow spider while washing the grapes she bought from the supermarket. At first, she did now know what the spider was, but after a search on the Internet she discovered she was dealing with one of the world's most dangerous creatures.

Yvonne Whalen had just returned home from grocery shopping and wanted to indulge herself with the red grapes she just bought from the store, but while she was washing them, she felt something tinkling her fingers. At a closer look, she saw a black long-legged spider crawling on the grapes and immediately dropped the fruits to the floor.

An expert confirmed what the woman's Internet search revealed, that the black spider with a red marking on the abdomen was a black widow, one of the spiders whose venom can be fatal to humans. But this was not the only black widow spider case reported in the last few days.

Another woman, Yvonne Duckhorn from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin was inspecting a grapes container at a local supermarket when she saw some black legs moving frantically, according to The Huffington Post. “I've seen bugs on fruit before, and I thought 'that is a very big spider,' nothing I'd ever seen before,” the woman says. She sealed the container and warned employees about the finding, before removing all grapes from the stores in the area.

Callum Merry is another unlucky customer who encountered a black widow spider in her red grapes bag, this time in Michigan. “I looked in the grapes and there was a black widow staring at me,” the woman tells ABC.

The black widow spiders found on the grapes around the US are not the only cases of dangerous spiders found on fruits lately. Just a few weeks earlier, a family in the U.K. was evacuated after finding a banana filled with venomous Brazilian wandering spiders, also bought from a local supermarket.
