Glossy finish for a cool look

After the leaked Treo Pro images which have surfaced at the end of last week, a new set of pictures with Palm's upcoming high-end smartphone are now making the rounds on the Web. Although we're talking about the same black Treo Pro, this time we have live pictures that show the handset's real face.

As expected, the Treo Pro is by far the best-looking Palm device, making most of the company's handsets look like "ugly ducklings".

Treo Pro is a bit wider and longer than the Centro (as seen in one of the available images), but at the same time it's thinner. And we all know that thin is good when it comes to mobile devices.

The new Treo apparently has quad-band GMS connectivity plus tri-band HSDPA connectivity. Therefore, it's a "global smartphone", capable of working in most of the countries around the world. This is surely a good thing for Palm, as the company can sell the Treo Pro in lots of markets, thus increasing its chances to become a popular handset. The Sunnyvale manufacturer has done this with the Centro, sold by now in more than 2 million units, and it might aspire to a similar success after releasing the Treo Pro.

The other unconfirmed features of Palm's future Treo Pro include: a 320 x 320 TFT pixels touchscreen display, built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, a 2 Megapixel camera, a 3.5mm headset jack, microUSB, microSD and microSDHC card support, a 400 MHz processor, 256MB of ROM, 128MB of RAM and a 1500 mAh battery that should be able to offer satisfactory talk and stand-by time. Like the Treo 800w, recently launched in the US by Sprint, Treo Pro is running on the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 OS.

For the moment, there is no info on the date Palm will officially present its new smartphone, but this should happen in the next few months.
