Nokia Lumia 630, the very first handset to have become available for purchase earlier this year with the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system loaded on top, has just seen a price cut in India.

Initially released at Rs. 11,500 ($191/€142) in this country, the mobile phone is now available for purchase there at only Rs. 9,479 ($158/€117), via online retailer Flipkart.

Only the Black flavor of the mobile phone has received the price cut, it seems, with the White, Green, and Yellow variants available at only a bit over Rs. 10,000 ($166/€124).

For those out of the loop, we should note that Lumia 630 is not only the first Windows Phone 8.1 to become available for purchase, but that it is also the cheapest such device currently on shelves.

Undoubtedly, this will change as soon as the Nokia Lumia 530 becomes available, yet those interested in getting the yet unannounced handset will also enjoy downgraded hardware specs.

Lumia 630 features a 4.5-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display with ClearBlack technology, capable of delivering a 480 x 854 pixels resolution, which is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Moreover, it is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor (with Adreno 305 GPU), paired with 512MB of RAM, which should be enough to deliver decent performance capabilities.

Lumia 530, on the other hand, should arrive on shelves with a 4-inch display, while being powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 CPU, thus offering slightly lower performance capabilities.

On the back, Nokia Lumia 630 sports a 5-megapixel camera with a 1/4'' sensor size, auto focus, and 720p video recording capabilities. Unfortunately, no front camera was included in the package.

The smartphone also features support for 3G networks (HSDPA, 21 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps), along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA, and Wi-Fi hotspot, along with a GPS receiver with A-GPS and GLONASS.

The handset is powered by an 1830mAh battery that can deliver up to 13 hours and 10 minutes of talk time, or up to 600 hours of standby time. It measures 129.5 x 66.7 x 9.2 mm and weighs 134 grams.

On top of all that, Nokia Lumia 630 will also provide users with a nice range of new features and capabilities that have been included in the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, including the new Internet Explorer 11, Action Center, Start Screen backgrounds, improved performance, and more.

Those of you living in India who are interested in grabbing the smartphone at the discounted price tag should head over to this page on Flipkart for that.
