The newest and unconfirmed yet BlackBerry smartphone, namely BlackBerry KickStart, will apparently have two (or at least two) color versions: silver, as in the
first leaked images with the handset, and black, as we can see now in the latest photo with the KickStart.
For those who don't know yet, KickStart is RIM's very first BlackBerry to come in a clamshell form factor and this aspect will probably make it a successful smartphone. Sure, in order to be successful, the device will have to offers a range of (at least) decent features, plus a good overall functionality, but RIM's no stranger to these aspects (see the high-end
BlackBerry Bold 9000 for example). Anyway, some users will hate the new KickStart, while others will love it or at least like it - as it happens with most of the phones.
The black version of KickStart appeared over at
Boy Genius Report, and even if it's dubbed "KickStart Negro" there, we seriously don't think this can be its official name. In fact, we see no reason for the black edition of the handset to have another name that the silver one.
The list of rumored specs included in BlakcBerry KickStart looks like this: a 2.2 inch internal display with a QVGA resolution, a half-sized external screen, QWERTY keypad, Wi-Fi, Music and Video players, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headset jack, USB, a 2 MP camera with flash, microSD card support and the latest BlackBerry OS. We don't know yet if the handset also has 3G connectivity.
There's no word about when RIM intends to release or at least fully present the KickStart, but it's highly probable that the smartphone will see the light of the market sometime in the second half of the year. Flip-phone lovers, stay tuned.
