If you are a fan of the music the Black Eyed Peas makes, you might know member Will.i.am is known for using a BlackBerry phone.

Back in 2012, Will.i.am attracted a lot of media attention by holding a BlackBerry Torch which he used to text, while at the same time holding the Olympic Torch in the other hand. One year before, he showed his love for the BlackBerry brand again, while pulling out the hand-set on the stage in the middle of his performance, because he apparently forgot the words of one of his songs.

The performer has been involved in tech before, as he released a third-party 14MP camera module for the Apple iPhone in 2012. But since wearable seems to be the gadget du-jour, Will.i.am is willing to jump on board of the smartwatch bandwagon too.

He apparently developed a smartwatch that completely eliminates the need for a smartphones, as it allows users to place phone calls from the device. Moreover, the watch supports music playback, Bluetooth headphones, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

The artist unveiled the project during the Alan Carr: Chatty Man show on Friday. The smartwatch will go on sale in July, so if you are interested keep an eye out for the pricing specifications that will be shortly be made available.

Smartwatches placing phone calls isn’t exactly a new concept. For example, Samsung was said to be working towards launching a third version of the Gear 2 watch, one capable making phone calls.
