If there ever was such a thing as the perfect time to take a few days off work and book a seat on a flight to Japan, this might just be it. Provided that you are utterly and completely in love with burgers, that is.

Long story short, it looks like, come September 19, Burger King restaurants in this part of the world will start selling customers black burgers like the ones pictured next to this article.

The limited edition burgers are made with black buns, black cheese and black ketchup, all of which owe their bizarre color to squid ink and bamboo charcoal.

They might look totally odd and, let's face it, not at all appealing, but Burger King claims that they are not only safe to eat, but also quite tasty, Time reports.

Information shared with the public says that the black burgers will come in two variants: the Kuro Pearl and the Kuro Diamond. Of these, the first will only comprise buns, cheese, ketchup and a beef patty.

The latter will also pack lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Hence, chances are that the Kuro Diamond might actually entice the eye, what with the contract between the black buns and the colorful veggies.

I am the first to admit that Burger King's idea to make and sell black burgers is a wee crazy. Still, I have to admit that I would not shy away from giving either the Kuro Pearl or the Kuro Diamond a try.
