Bitly is making its Pro service free for everyone and is integrating the paid features into the regular Bitly account. This means that you can now add your own custom short domain and use that for all of your link, while the backend service and analytics are still served by Bitly.

"To make our whitelabel service available to as many of our users as possible, we are not only bringing bitly Pro out of beta — we are building it right into the core functionality of bitly itself," Bitly announced.

"As of today, every bitly user can set up a custom short domain from within their bitly account settings, free of charge and with no waiting period. Just register the short domain of your choosing, point it to our servers, and hook it up to your bitly account," the announcement explained.

Now, you can join the likes of Diddy, with diddy.it, the Dalai Lama, with dalaila.ma and South Park's Eric Cartman, with cart.mn, and roll your own custom domain for the envy of your Twitter followers.

You have to a secure a short, funny and memorable domain name first, but that shouldn't be a problem for anyone. After that, you must link it with the Bitly servers and then configure everything from the Account Settings page.

Then you will be able to monitor how your shortened with the new custom domain links are doing in the analytics section and you can even check out how others are using your new shortener as well.

Bitly is also debuting a new homepage, over at Bitly.com, which you can also use to shorten your links. All activity relating to your account will happen on this domain from now on, rather than the old Bit.ly, which you can still use to shorten your links. You can thank all of the unrest in Libya for this change.
