Bitdefender has launched the stable release for Safepay, a standalone application designed to protect online transactions from cyber-threats like phishing, man-in-the-middle/browser attacks or Trojans.

Bitdefender Safepay practically creates a secondary, protected desktop environment equipped with a basic version of Chromium browser that does not allow extensions and add-ons.

When using Safepay, your transactions are shielded from spying as the technology used prevents screenshots and keystrokes from being taken and detects and blocks packet sniffing. According to Catalin Cosoi, Bitdefender chief security strategist, “Safepay protects eBankers and shoppers from all types of online threats, all the time.”

The application is free of charge but the developer also makes available a Premium version that can be purchased for $4.95 / €3.26 per week, $14.95/ €9.88 per month or $34.95/ €23.93 per year and includes protection when connecting to unsafe Wi-Fi hotspots.
