The systems of Czech Republic-based Bitcoin exchange service Bitcash.cz have been hacked. The cybercriminals are said to have emptied user wallets.

Bitcash.cz has taken down its website. According to a message posted on the site, the attack took place in the evening of November 11. The company is currently working on addressing the issue. The identity of the attackers remains unknown.

On Tuesday, Bitcash.cz posted a message on Facebook to warn customers about scam emails that tried to trick users into handing over Bitcoins.

CoinDesk reports that cybercriminals are sending out bogus emails on behalf of Bitcash, asking recipients to send 2 BTC to a wallet address if they want to be refunded. The same website also informs that as many as 4,000 customers might have had their wallets emptied by the attackers.
