FrostWire 5.7.3, a BitTorrent client (formerly a Gnutella client) that’s the result of a collaborative effort of hundreds of open source and freelance developers, has been released and comes with a few interesting changes.

The Frostwire client can be used to send large files and folders. It features BitTorrent and Magnet Link support and is Kindle-compatible, but these are just a few of the features that we can expect from the software.

People have gotten used to large updates for FrostWire, but this latest one for the 5.7.x branch is quite small, although it does add some necessary features. The developers have finally implemented Yifi search (torrent service) after being requested by the community, Canonical Peer Priority support has been implemented and it should provide better user discovery and better performance overall, the broken EZTV search has finally been fixed, and the apache httpclient and httpcore libraries have been removed.

If you want to install the application right away or if you just want to update it, all you have to do is to enter these commands in a terminal (you will need to be root):

sudo wget http://dl.frostwire.com/frostwire/5.7.3/frostwire-5.7.3.all.deb sudo dpkg -i frostwire-5.7.3.all.deb sudo apt-get install -f Check out the official changelog for a complete list of changes and updates. You can also download FrostWire 5.7.3 right now from Softpedia.
