The kit should be released by the end of the week

With less than a month away from the launch of the first beta, BitDefender releases the second one for the Total Security suite. The application has undergone some changes during this short period thanks to the user experience and feedback based on testing the first public beta.

At the moment there is no kit available for this second release of the still unstable version. But if you have the suite installed on Vista the patch will come through the automatic update system for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions by the end of today (Wednesday, May 27th, 2009). For Windows 7 you will have to manually apply the patches downloadable directly from BitDefender (32-bit and 64-bit) for the two architectures in order to receive the necessary updates. If BitDefender Total Security 2010 updates successfully the build number should read 13.0.11 in the “About” section of the application.

On the other hand, if the first beta is not installed on the system and you want to continue skipping it and try the second, improved release of the software, you will have to wait until the end of the week for the kit to be compiled.

The first beta of BitDefender Total Security rolled out on April 29th and ushered a new, slick looking, easy-to-use triple-interfaced application that addressed the three most common types of users: beginners, intermediate and advanced. The suite aims at offering an all-in-one solution with regard to malware protection, parental control, data backup and restore and system maintenance. The final release is programmed for the month of July, and a specific date still remains to be confirmed.

It is built to protect you against all sorts of malware (the antivirus and antispyware module should be ready to deflect them). Other types of malicious attempts on your safety are also obviated and you will benefit from anti-phishing protection as well as from a firewall to safeguard you from unauthorized Internet access.

You can read the review for the first beta of BitDefender Total Security 2010 on Softpedia. The review is split into three sections, each addressing the three types of users targeted by the application: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.
