14 DAY TRIAL // Romanian antivirus vendor Bitdefender has announced earlier today during a press conference, which we had the chance to attend, the 2012 version of its security products as well as the rebranding of the company.
The press conference focused on the ten years of activity and on the new visual identity of the company that has at its heart the Dacian Draco, a mythical creature used as a protective symbol by early inhabitants of Romania.
According to the company, this symbol was chosen in order to underline the Romanian origin of the brand as well as its powerful threat-protection capabilities.
Outside of the new visual identity, the 2012 version of Bitdefender's security suite also brings an important series of improvements, some of the most important being the new Autopilot mode and the Scan Dispatcher technology.
Using the newly introduced operating mode, the suite will take most of the security-released decisions on its own without bugging the user with all sort of notifications and other messages.
Its important to note that users will also be able to access and modify any of the decisions taken by the software on their own, so those who seek greater control over the application don't have to give it up in favor of ease of operation.
As far as the Scan Dispatcher technology is concerned, this was developed in order to keep the system responsive at all times, by automatically keeping and eye on the state of the machine and running computing intensive tasks, such as file scans, only when there are plenty of resources available.
Another new feature that was just introduced in the 2012 version of Bitdefender's security suites is the special social networking filter that scans and blocks threats coming from Facebook and Twitter and other similar social networking platforms.
The 2012 edition of Bitdefender's security suite is available in three different versions, and includes Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2012, Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 and the Total Security 2012 suite, which is the most feature-rich version of the three.
