BitDefender Free Edition has recently received an update, so users who have already installed the app should get the new version as soon as possible, just to make sure their computers are fully protected.

BitDefender hasn’t released any changelog on version 1.0.15.946, but the build most likely fixes some of the previously-reported bugs, which means that the anti-virus solution should now run a bit smoother, regardless of whether you are using Windows XP, Vista 7 or 8.

Even though it’s free, this particular version of the BitDefender anti-virus solution packs basically all the options you would ever expect from such an app, including real-time production, a user-friendly interface, virus reports, and dedicated options to control running processes and startup items.

Of course, the program provides multiple scan modes, including deep system scans, full, quick or auto log-on scans to check your computer for viruses every time you start it.

Update: BitDefender has just sent us the changelog for this new version, revealing that Bitdefender Free Edition Edition 1.0.15.946 comes with an option to add exceptions to found items and to bypass detected webpages at users’ own risk.

In addition, this build resolves compatibility issues with Comodo Firewall, while also improving the Threat Control to display both quarantined items and exceptions applied by the user.

New actions added to the security flow when suspect items are found during scan are also part of the release.
