BitDefender Delivers Protection for Windows Vista

Although is was not mentioned by Microsoft among the select security companies to deliver support for Windows Vista prior to the operating system's consumer availability on January 30, 2007, BitDefender has announced that it is offering security solutions fully compatible with Vista.

According to the security vendor, BitDefender Antivirus v10.2, BitDefender Antivirus Plus v10.2 and BitDefender Internet Security v10.2 fully support Windows Vista. BitDefender informed that none of the previous versions of its products are compatible with Microsoft's latest operating system; in fact, earlier versions than 10.2 will in some cases not even install on Vista.

BitDefender Antivirus 10.2, BitDefender Antivirus Plus 10.2 and BitDefender Internet Security 10.2 are designed for 32-bit platforms. At this point in time BitDefender does not offer protection for x64 Vista.

According to BitDefender, customers will not be charged for the updates that introduce Vista support. "The BitDefender 9 and 10 license keys will work on Vista, for the corresponding product and for the remaining period. For example, if you have 8 months left from your BitDefender Internet Security subscription, when you switch to Windows Vista, use the same key to receive 8 months of protection," informed BitDefender.

BitDefender Antivirus Plus 10.2 is delivered as a complete security solution comprising antivirus, antispam and firewall modules. BitDefender Antivirus Plus 10.2 additionally offers B-HAVE (Behavioral Heuristic Analyzer in Virtual Environments), Peer-2-Peer and IM Applications Protection, E-mail Protection, Anti-Dialer and Rescue CD.

BitDefender Internet Security 10.2 is a more comprehensive solution than BitDefender Antivirus Plus 10.2, containing an array of extra features both desktop and web oriented.
