IT security companies Bit9 and Carbon Black have merged in an effort to provide their customers a complete solution for both servers and endpoints. By teaming up, the two firms are bringing together Bit9’s prevention technologies and Carbon Black’s detection and response systems.

The companies’ solutions seamlessly integrate with products from FireEye, Palo Alto Networks, and other SIEM and incident response firms.

The companies will merge under the Bit9 name. Bit9 has raised $38.25 million (€28 million) in a funding round led by existing investor Atlas Venture. The money will be used to fuel the growth of the company.

Mike Viscuso, chief executive officer of Carbon Black, will become Bit9’s chief strategy officer and he will report to Patrick Morley, the chief executive officer of Bit9.

Check out the video in which Morley and Viscuso discuss the merger.
