Here's a lingerie item that redefines the idea of luxury: a bra made entirely of solid gold and dripping in diamonds. It's the creation of Birmingham Estate and Jewelry Buyers and can be yours for $1 million (€819,672).

Of course, diamond bras are not that uncommon, even if they're painfully expensive and, to speak the truth, more than a bit impractical.

Victoria's Secret, for one, has made a tradition of coming out with a new item of this kind every year, which only the hottest Angel can model.

There's a difference between those bras and this one, though, named Rita, its makers tell CBS Local: this one has no fabric, so it's literally made of gold.

“It’s just over 500 carats of diamonds, these are all natural diamonds, and it has 750 grams of gold, it is solid gold,” Anthony Aubrey of Birmingham Estate and Jewelry Buyers, who created it, says.

“The difference between this bra and the Victoria’s Secret bras is the Victoria’s Secret bras have fabric in them and the diamonds are kind of embedded into the fabric. This, there’s no fabric in it what so ever, it’s just solid gold,” he adds.

He says nothing of how uncomfortable the bra might be but, considering that it retails for $1 million (€819,672), chances are no one will be buying it to actually wear it.

Or perhaps they will, Aubrey hopes.

“If you just have that much money, someone would want it to say 'Oh, I have a $1 million bra,' or some people would put it on display at their house or something, and some people, believe it or not, would actually want to wear it,” he explains.

Should the future owner actually decide to step out in public wearing this piece of jewelry / lingerie, she's bound to get all the attention.

“We’ve had three different models wear this so far out in public at shows and it never fails to turn some heads,” Aubrey explains.

The bra is named Rita after his wife and took almost a year to make, during which time about 40 workers toiled incessantly on it.
