A new Twitter application for handsets running under Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 platform is now available for download, namely Birdsong, a software that comes from Red Badger.

The app's developers claim that the new software is capable of providing users with a premium experience on their Windows Phone 7 devices, through an innovative design with infinite scrolling and off-line viewing, and other features more.

Among the main features of the new application, we can count Configurable Timelines, Integrated Picture Viewing, Threaded Conversations, Direct Message Threading, Places, Integrated Web Browser, Status Bar, Profiles, or Integrated Theme.

According to the application's developers, the functionalities and capabilities Birdsong for Windows Phone 7 was packed with would be demonstrated in videos and blog post over the next few days and weeks. For the time being, however, here are some details on the key features the software lands with:

Timelines on the home screen are configurable. You can add lists, saved searches and new searches as well as changing the order in which the timelines appear.

Conversations are flagged with a tweet property icon. Threaded conversations allow you to view an entire conversation in context.

Birdsong’s direct messages are organized like an email inbox. All direct messages between you and your friends are automatically threaded.

Share existing or new photos using the fast TwitPic integration.

Using the integrated browser you can view web links without leaving Birdsong – there’s no need to launch Internet Explorer (although you can).

The status bar shows your configured timelines, which one you are currently viewing, your unread counts and each timeline’s update status.

You can explore anyone’s profile, their timeline, friends, followers and favorites. Although version 1 of this mobile application has just arrived in the Windows Phone Marketplace, a new flavor of it is expected to become available for download in the near future, namely version 1.1, which should bring forth a series of other enhancements.

Those who would like to tryout Birdsong for Windows Phone 7 would find it available via the Marketplace here, priced at $1.99. The software also comes with a free trial. Additional info on it can be found in the video embedded below, courtesy of WPCentral.
