Following the ExxonMobil oil spill, birds in Arkansas need help getting cleaned

It was only yesterday when I reported on the fact that the town of Mayflower in central Arkansas got hit by a major crude oil spill after a pipeline owned by ExxonMobil ruptured and allowed the fuel inside it to flow into its surroundings.

Recent news on the topic says that, despite said company's efforts to contain the spill and clean up the affected area, several birds living in this part of the United States now need veterinary care as a result of their being drenched in oil.

The bird featured in the picture above was recently brought at The Hawk Center, Tree Hugger informs us.

Like many others, this bird is to be cleaned up by trained staff and later on released back into the wild.

According to the same source, ExxonMobil maintains that Lake Conway is still clean, and that the birds must have become exposed to oil while hanging out in the proximity of the spill.
