Now a division of Electronic Arts, Bioware is a well known name among role-playing game makers, likely most famous for its Infinity Engine, which powered the award-winning Baldur's Gate series of RPGs. Now, after several years, Bioware has developed yet another stunning game engine, the Eclipse, which is used in the creation of the already infamous single-player RPG known as Dragon Age: Origins. The title was labeled by Co-CEO Ray Muzyka as the “spiritual successor” to the Baldur's Gate series and has already been named the game of the year by websites such as Gamasutra.
Bioware has just announced full support for the visual innovation known as the ATI Eyefinity, which will give the Eclipse engine and, consequently, Dragon Age: Origins a new level of immersion through multi-display setups.

“We’re really excited to take advantage of AMD’s new ATI Eyefinity multi-screen configuration technology,” Mark Darrah, executive producer, BioWare, said. “Dragon Age: Origins is an incredibly immersive game and it’s quite impressive to experience the Dragon Age universe on this impressive technology from AMD.”

Support for the ATI Eyefinity was released on Nov. 6 and Nov. 17 as part of an official patch. Said patch made sure that players would have access to ultra-widescreen resolutions for an ultimate gaming experience when playing on Eyefinity configurations. The specific maximum resolution now attainable by the game is of 7680 x 1600. The ultimate immersion and graphics quality may be experienced when playing the title on the Eyefinity-supporting ATI Radeon HD 5970, HD 5870, HD 5850, HD 5770 or ATI Radeon HD 5750 graphics cards.

“BioWare has made ATI Eyefinity compatibility a priority, and it speaks strongly to their belief in what ATI Eyefinity technology brings to the gaming experience,” Neal Robison, director, ISV Relationship Management at AMD, added. “BioWare is known for creating rich, immersive gaming experiences, and it is clear that they appreciate how ATI Eyefinity technology found on the latest ATI Radeon cards, can help further enrich the experience for gamers.”

It actually isn't working correctly. Everyone assumes eyefinity is 3 widescreen displays, but I think you'll find many more people will shell out the cash for 3 5:4 monitors, espeically since that resolution will be better handled by a 5850.

The problem is that with EF enabled on 5:4 monitors, the movies and cutscenes and dialog scenes are displayed in 16:9 format, which means the dialog options and movie viewport itself is 'centered' in the EF display, but the edges bleed over into the adjacent monitors. It's annoying, but really bad that the dialog options are obscured so badly because of where the screen border is placed.

Hope they realize this soon and fix it. It's too annoying to play with, and I'm too annoyed to play without EF.
