Three months after the original release of the TZ68A+, Biostar has decided to develop an updated version of this Intel Z68 motherboard that will include a slightly improved feature set as well as a new name, the TZ68K+.

While the two boards feature almost the same specifications, the components were moved around a bit in order to make room for an updated power delivery system that features eight processor phases instead of the four used in the TZ68A+.

This should help improve overclocking and decrease the overall VRM temperature, as load will be spread out evenly over more phases.

However, outside of this change, the new motherboard is almost a TZ68A+ lookalike and still gets dual PCI Express x16 slots (the second one is limited at x4 speeds), one PCI-E x1 and a pair of regular PCI slots.

Storage is provided by six SATA ports, two of these supporting SATA 6Gbps transfer speeds, but sadly none of these are angled at 90 degrees in order to reduce cable clutter when multiple storage drives are connected at the same time.

On a plus side, Biostar has managed to put together a very nice-looking board with a more-than-decent layout, which doesn't block any PCI slots when dual-slot graphics cards are installed, and the TZ68A+ also features on-board power and reset buttons.

Moving to the back of this Intel Z68 solution, the connectivity options available are rather scarce, but the motherboard does feature three video outputs, including HDMI, dual-link DVI and VGA.

USB 3.0 is also present and the two ports provided are run by a third-party ASMedia host controller.

No information regarding the release date of the Biostar TZ68K+ is available at this time, but this should be priced just a tad higher than the TZ68A+, which currently retails for $99.99. (via VR-Zone)
