It ships with a dual-core Intel Celeron CPU and a gold-colored heatsink

Mini-ITX motherboards often ship with a pre-installed central processing unit or accelerated processing unit, and the latest product from Biostar is no exception to this. So behold the J1900NH2.

In case you need a refresher, when it comes to PCs, Intel only makes central processing units these days (CPUs), but Advanced Micro Devices sells accelerated processing units too (APUs).

The difference is that APUs have integrated, up to mid-range graphics processing units, which are a step above the iGPs (integrated graphics processors) of CPUs.

Anyway, the Biostar J1900NH2 is a mini-ITX motherboard (mini ITX is the form factor, about as wide as a memory module / PCI Express slot is long).

It is equipped with the Celeron J1900 Dual-Core processor, though the specs are pretty vague. A check on Intel's website only yielded a quad-core SoC of similar moniker, so it can't be that one.

Anyway, the chip should be decent considering the support for DDR3L memory of 1333 MHz and 1066 MHz.

The CPU has a stable power supply, not that it's that important considering the performance level, but it never hurts to have some perks here and there.

The stability is owed to the X.D.C. (eXtreme Durable Capacitors) technology, which is self-explanatory really.

In addition to the stable power supply to the CPU, the low ESR and high ripple conductive solid-state capacitors also ensure a longer lifespan for the motherboard itself, by a factor of 6.25 to be exact.

Storage-wise, we're looking at two SATA 2 connectors (so SATA 3.0 Gbps, sadly enough), a USB 3.0 port, and four USB 2.0 ports.

Though the USB can be used for peripherals too, or for recharging other devices, like phones and tablets. In fact, Biostar has implemented the Charger Booster function too, which reduces charging time by up to 42%.

Moving on, the Biostar J1900NH2 mini-ITX motherboard benefits from Realtek ALC662 5.1 Channel HD Audio, Realtek RTL8111G - 10/100/1000 controller (Gigabit Ethernet as it were), Smart Speed LAN, and some exclusive Biostar technologies, of course: BIOS Flasher and BIOS Online Update (to update and restore the BIOS in case you tweak things too much), as well as BIO-Remote (can control the motherboard from an Android and iOS smartphone or tablet).

Finally, the Windows 7 and Windows 8 and 8.1 operating systems are supported by the newcomer, though Windows XP and Vista should work fine too. Sadly, Biostar did not say what price it set for the J1900NH2 motherboard.
