More and more reports seem to indicate that we are only weeks away from the inevitable release of Intel's next-generation desktop platform, which will only support the chip maker's upcoming processors, based on the Nehalem architecture. After the recently leaked pictures and details on some of the upcoming X58-based motherboards, it looks like these LGA1366-enabled mobos just keep surfacing, regardless of their manufacturer. The latest comes from Biostar, which is going to include its upcoming X58 motherboard in the T-Power lineup.
Fortunately, aside from a very clear picture uploaded on the French-language
Matbe, the technical specifications of Biostar's upcoming Core i7-supporting motherboard have also been made available. As some of you already know, it will be based on the Intel X58 Northbridge, coupled with the ICH10R Southbridge. It features the Socket 1366 and comes with a QPI (QuickPath Interconnect) of 6.4GT/s.
The CPU power design has 12 phases, while the available 6 memory DIMMs can only support DDR3 memory to deliver the performance required by the upcoming desktop gaming rigs. Aside from that, the Biostar version of the X58 motherboard comes with three PCI-Express X16 graphics slots, apparently with support for both SLI and CrossFireX technologies, thus allowing graphics enthusiasts enjoy the benefits of either a GeForce or a Radeon-based desktop gaming system. The board also features an additional PCI-Express x1 and two PCI slots.
Other features include 6 SATA ports with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, two eSATA and one IDE, dual Gigabit Ethernet, two Firewire ports, and 8-channel Audio.
No word on pricing and availability for the time being, but if the above-mentioned specifications have in any way drawn your attention, you should be expecting the Biostar T-Power X58 motherboard to become available sometime within the next 30 days. Of course, by that time, other motherboard makers will most likely have also come out with their own X58 designs.
