Bioshock 2 Reveals System Requirements, DRM

Bioshock 2 is getting ready for its February 9 launch date, and that's so close that 2K Marin has released the game's PC specifications. The developer's community manager revealed not only the system requirements, but also the DRM, with Games for Windows Live and SecuROM as part of the picture.
 
"BioShock 2 is using a standard Games for Windows Live activation system, much like other games you have played in the past," she said. "That doesn't mean you always have to be online to play or save the game – you can create an offline profile for the Single Player portion of the game (you just won't earn achievements and you can't play Multiplayer, of course.)"

As for that pestering SecuROM, she only said that, "We are using SecuROM only as a disc check method for the retail copy of BioShock 2. That is its only use." And keeping it short was the smart thing to do, since no one wants to hear anything about the "who's-name-must-not-be-spoken."

Still, even so, it's good to hear that the application sees only limited functionality, as, hopefully, this will reduce any problems that could develop from SecuROM. Also, the game will require a one-time Internet connection for the initial installation. The exact system requirements are posted below, and they seem to be slightly above today's average PC rig.

Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0C compliant sound card w/ onboard sound.
