Bionicle Hints (PS2)

Bionicle is the first in a series of video games developed by Argonaut Games PLC, to be later published by Electronic Arts and by LEGO Media. The release date for the game was 2003 and it was developed for multiple hardware platforms, including the Xbox game console from Microsoft, the Game Cube, the PC and Mac, although the PlayStation 2 version of the game is considered the most advanced, graphics-wise. The game is classed as being a third person action game.

The player is set to take on the role of Toa, Toa Nuva and then that of the 7th Toa, as he explores and battles his way through the world of Mata Nui, which was clearly inspired by Hawaiian folklore and mythology, with six different elements serving as its foundation.

An evil being, called Makuta, has enslaved the land by scattering the Matoran across the great lakes and fiery volcanoes of the world. There's only one hero that can collect them and then battle Makuta to his end - the player.

There are six Toa that the game offers up as playable characters, each one of them based on one element - with each element offering unique powers to the player, as well as the ability to launch blasts of elemental energy. After choosing one of the Toa as your avatar, you need to explore the game world while avoiding hazards posed by the varied environment, like icicles, lava pits and falling rocks, all the while battling the minions that Makuta throws on your heels.

GAMEPLAY HINTS

Defeating Makuta

At the end of the game, as you are battling Makuta, press X(2), Triangle. You should be gliding and dodging all attacks except for the flying bees.

In Makuta's first phase, you cannot do anything to him except make him angry. He will teleport to a location around the arena and summon Rahi. Defeat Rahi and Makuta will jump, sending out a shockwave and causing cracks in the ground. Then, teleport to another spot. Repeat this four more times. On the fifth time you do this he will break the ground and fall in. Takanuva will follow him. You are in a perpetual fall with the broken ground as your platform. If you fall, you will die. At the beginning of the phase, Makuta will "electrify" the metal plates with dark energy. You must run to each plate and pass through to purify it. This will cause it to turn over, and Makuta's shield to weaken. Do this to all four and Makuta's shield will be gone. Wait for him to shoot an energy ball at you and bounce it back with your shield. He will "electrify" the plates again and four pieces of the ground will fall away. Repeat the process (this time he will shoot two blasts) and the plates will fall away at which point you can hurt him. When hit with his energy balls, he will bend over and you can shoot him in the head. Do this three times to win. Be careful, as the piece of ground you are standing on will flip after about five seconds.

Dodging attacks and refilling your Mana

As you are attacked jump and use your shield rapidly. The attack will completely miss you and you will refill your Mana.
