Bionic Commando Rearmed is a re-imagining of the classic game, which Capcom says will create a new look and a new feel for the game while offering younger gamers a chance to experience the unique gameplay of the original title. It was rumored to be launched on July 30 on the Xbox Live Arcade and on July 31 on the
PlayStation Network, but the
Japanese magazine Famitsu, as translated by Kotaku, says that the release date has been pushed back for "a few weeks". Capcom has not offered an official response to the Famitsu story at the moment.
The interesting thing is that Bionic Commando Rearmed will be getting
Trophies, which have been recently added to the PlayStation 3 by way of firmware upgrade 2.41. The game was in development long before Sony presented the concept for Trophies so the developers adopted a workaround so that gamers will be able to experience all that the game and console have to offer.
Ben Judd, who is a producer on Bionic Commando Rearmed, stated that "this is probably just sneaky producer double-speak but we wanted to set the game up so that those of you who purchase the game on launch day will make sure their hard gaming hours do not go to waste." Basically, the gamer will earn Medals while playing the game and all the Medals are actually tied to one or more Trophies which will be attached to the gamer's profile when they are added to the game in a future patch. It's currently unknown how much people will have to wait for this patch.
Bionic Commando Rearmed is set to offer a single player campaign as well as more than 50 standalone Challenge Rooms, where you can test your grappling and swinging skills. There's also complete multiplayer support and the chance to enjoy co-op gameplay.
