Very early 2009 though

Reviving old classic titles like MegaMan or Metal Slug is certainly the new trend for video game developers. It's a foolproof way to make a profit, seeing as how the fan base is already there and it'll definitely buy the new releases if it is motivated enough. The last game to join the classic revamps is Capcom's Bionic Commando title. Although it was slated for a 2008 holiday season release, at the Tokyo Game Show, the developer revealed that the title was pushed back to 2009.

[ADMARk=1]It will be released very early next year for the major systems, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with the PC version still having an unconfirmed release date. One of the main reasons for it is the classic piracy problem, but there's also the fact that they still need to make tweaks to the DRM system which will protect the game.

"The PC is always a slippery slope because of piracy, stuff like sorting out DRM, making sure we don't have too little or too much. But also because we want to make sure it doesn't feel like a port, so we can add a little extra polish to the PC version," said the developers.

This game definitely has a lot of potential and perhaps it is for the best that Capcom together with the Swedish developers from Grin will take the extra time to polish up the title and offer a really fun and enjoyable gaming experience.

For those of you who don't know, Bionic Commando will be the direct sequel to the original NES title and will offer players the ability to control the government agent Nathan Spencer. He has one characteristic that is a bit distinct from other secret agents, a bionic arm that he uses to swing around the fictional Ascension City and to fight his enemies. All in all, it seems like it will be a very interesting title and something to look forward to after the winter holidays.
