Developer BioWare might not have officially announced the existence of Dragon Age III, but it seems that the company is already working on the game, with at least one segment of the company ready to start pre-production on the third full installment in the series.

Jennifer Hepler, who is a senior writer working on the franchise, has told the official BioWare blog that, “At the moment, we are at the end of pre-production and beginning of production, so I am bouncing between outlining new stories and starting to write dialogue for the larger plots that are already developed.”

The writer did not specifically address the game she was working on and might have also been referring to the update cycle for the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO, which is kicking into high gear as the company plans to deliver more content for the game in 2012.

Hepler also talked about working for BioWare, adding, “Writing is generally a solitary profession and I spent most of my twenties sitting at home in front of a computer churning out scripts and not talking to anyone. It’s an incredible blessing to get to spend every day with funny, intelligent people whom I respect and who care about the same kinds of things I do.”

BioWare has already asked fans of the Dragon Age franchise to talk about what they would like to see in the third title, although it has also warned them that ultimate creative control rests with the development team.

Ray Muzika, one of the two leaders of the company, has suggested that Dragon Age III might have some similarities with Skyrim while other developers see the game as taking the best parts of the first two titles from the franchise.

An official announcement is expected before the end of 2012, with launch possible during 2014.
