Dragon Age: Origins turned out to be a good experience for it

BioWare is known not just for releasing great games, but also for being one of the few developers that promote PC gaming in what seems to be its darkest hour. The consoles are starting to become a main focus for developers and publishers, as they seem to be bringing in more money. But now, after having one of its first experiences with the PlayStation 3 via Dragon Age: Origins, BioWare liked what it saw, and believes that it will become more and more involved in the PS3 market. The company's co-founder, Greg Zeschuk, talked about this aspect with Joystiq.

"It was great going through the experience of making Dragon Age, getting familiar with and understanding the PS3. Again, every platform is different, but now I think we're at the position where future PS3 stuff will be really solid," he said. "We did partner with Edge of Reality, so we partnered with folks who have had the experience, and that was a good process where we actually had some folks that knew how to do it but also, in general, just worked together with them."

So, if you're in love with your PS3 and feel like you've been missing out on great games like Mass Effect or Neverwinter Nights 2 and all their expansions, then you can take some comfort knowing that, from now on, you'll most likely get access to future BioWare titles. "We have quite a few people working in-house as well. We think it's one of the key platforms, obviously, so we're definitely going to be doing PS3." Zeschuk added. "You know, I can't say anything about Mass Effect in that regard but you know, I can definitely say... other things we do will definitely be on PS3."

While it's not the first time the company stays clear of the PC, Dragon Age was the PlayStation 3 initiation for BioWare. It wasn't an excellent adaptation, as the game received several complains regarding the frame rate, but these are probably going to improve as it becomes more familiar with the platform. Current titles under development by the company include Mass Effect 2 and Star Wars The Old Republic, and, if the MMORPG has relatively slim chances of making it on the PS3, ME2 is a viable possibility.
